Wedding Vendor Tipping Cheat Sheet

Once you pay all of your final balances before the wedding day – there are still some costs to keep in mind, and that is the gratuities. Not all vendors expect or require this but some do, and for some, it is just a nice way to thank them for going above and beyond for your big day. Wedding Planner
Do I have to tip? No. It’s optional
How much should I tip? 10 – 20% of their service cost or a nice thank you gift
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of the night or send a gift over with your Thank You cards after the honeymoon.

Wedding Photographer / Videographer
Do I have to tip? It’s optional
How much should I tip? 10 – 20%  or $50. Or a nice thank you gift.
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of the night or send a gift over with your Thank You cards after the honeymoon.

Hair and Makeup Artists
Do I have to tip? It is expected.
How much should I tip? 15 – 20%  depending on the service quality
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of their service.

Wedding Cake Vendor
Do I have to tip? It’s optional
How much should I tip? 10 – 15%  depending on the service quality
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of their service or send a thank you gift after your honeymoon.

Floral and Decor
Do I have to tip? It’s optional.
How much should I tip? 10 – 15%  depending on the service quality or a thank you gift.
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of their service or send a thank you gift after your honeymoon.

Wedding Transportation
Do I have to tip? It is expected.
How much should I tip? 15 – 20%
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of the last ride.

Wedding Band or DJ
Do I have to tip? It’s optional.
How much should I tip? $25 – $35 per musician; $50–$150 for DJs
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of their service.

Officiant
Do I have to tip? It is expected (but this can depend on the officiant)
How much should I tip? Donate $100–$500 to their church, synagogue, or mosque, and for the officiant, a tip of $50-$100 usually.
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of their service.

Wedding Reception Staff
Do I have to tip? It is expected.
How much should I tip? The charge might already be on your bill as a food and drink fee so check your contract. Otherwise, 15 – 20%  depending on the service quality.
When do I tip? Hand them an envelope at the end of their service.
