Ali and Jeff – A Rustic Warehouse Turned Chic

A message from the bride, Ali.
Anyone who knows us has always told us one thing – we exude love for each other.  We both wear our hearts on our sleeves, so the world has always been a witness to our love.  And yes, we really did know we found our person within minutes of knowing each other. Since we were both athletes, we are incredibly active – we run, I spin, we lift, play sports together all the time. This also means, we love to eat, and we have no shame in enjoying amazing food.
When vendors asked us what our “vision” was for our wedding, we always answered the same things: “lots of love, amazing food, and an incredible dance party”.  You can see in the videos and pictures, that’s DEFINITELY how it turned out.  Yes, my dress was TRASHED by the end of the night (especially since it rained around 3 inches on our wedding day and during clean up the venue was evacuated because of flash floods – thank god that didn’t happen during the wedding).
As far as decor went, I really wanted to channel my love for modernized minimalism with a touch of boho.  That’s where the centerpieces came in as well as the table numbers.  We had one of our engagement pictures watercolored as our guest book and of course included “Seat yo’self” at the top of our seating chart as a tribute  to our fav show (Parks n Rec).
We wanted our ceremony to surround us: we wrote 5 reasons why we chose each other (heard them for the first time during the ceremony) wrote our own vows (which were pretty much exactly the same), and Jeff even added Spanish to his vows (since I am a Spanish teacher and it is a huge part of who I am). It was also incredibly important to us that our loved ones stay present with us, which is why we asked for an unplugged ceremony.
When choosing my dress, all I cared about was that I would feel beautiful, like myself, and that I would be able to eat as much as I want and dance as much as I want on my wedding day.  When I put on this dress, I asked everyone for a moment alone, closed my eyes and pictured Jeff seeing me in it.  His reaction was exactly what I foresaw, and that’s how I knew it was my dress.
Our wedding didn’t go as planned.  Ceremony was supposed to be outside, and we had several walk throughs with our photographer, who also shot Jeff’s proposal, to walk around and plan shots accordingly.  Because of the torrential downpours, even our rain plan got flooded and rained out.  We had to arrange ALL of our pictures in a 40 x 15 foot space, and might I say, she did AMAZING.
