Body odour is something that some of us have experienced during a phase in our life, usually puberty. Body odour is something some of us deal with on a regular basis through our adult lives. There are many ways to try and fight body odour but choosing the most natural ways are the best way to go.
Now, as a bride, the last thing you want to worry about on your big day is, body odour. You want to look, smell, and feel your best when you are getting married!! Let’s get started on 3 natural solutions to fighting BO that can help any bride have a fresh and clean wedding day – odour free!
You know when they say, you are what you eat? It’s for a reason! Literally, if you eat foods that have strong smells, that odour will come out in your sweat and potentially make your sweat smell too. Foods such as garlic, onions, strong spices can really do more harm than good for a bride dealing with BO! Below are some food and drink Do’s and Don’ts for you to keep in mind before the wedding day!
Fruits and non-sulfurous vegetables
Foods with garlic and onion
Too much red meat
Sulfurous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower
Excess caffeine and alcohol
Use Anti-Bacterial Soaps.
Keep in mind that using anti-bacterial soaps regularly with no purpose is not always recommended. This is because removing all bacteria from our skin is not the goal – our body needs good bacteria to fight the bad. However, if you are prepping weeks before your wedding day in hopes to prevent BO – this could be a good option for you to try. I would continue to use my regular soaps after the wedding but to prep for the wedding try anti-bacterial soaps. A Harvard Study on Antibacterial Soaps states:
“Antibacterial soaps have all the same properties as regular soap, but with an extra ingredient added that is intended to stop the bacteria remaining on your skin from replicating. The idea is that this additive will further protect the hand-washer from harmful bacteria as compared to regular soap. It is important to mention that these ingredients generally have no effect on viruses, so the focus is to reduce the risk from bacterial germs. The most common antibacterial additive found in consumer hand soaps is a compound called triclosan.”Harvard University
Use Pro-Biotic Deodorant.
Pro-biotics are great for gut health but they are also good for your skin. Instead of using regular deodorant, use the pro-biotic ones that actually fight bad bacteria that causes BO.
Your wedding guests will thank you when you smell fresh and you will feel absolutely your best on the big day if you are consistent with your natural routine to prevent BO! If you have suggestions let us know in the comments below!
