A message from the bride, Geira:
Our wedding day was magical. Sean and I planned our wedding while in NY, going through medical residency, and quite honestly, didn’t know how it was all going to turn out in the end. We were both nervous up, up until the day before the wedding, and then something just clicked, and nothing else in the world mattered except that today we were getting married.
That said, the day of was hectic of course, but beautiful at the same time. Seeing our families, from two different cultures and backgrounds interact with each other, be it with words or gestures/acts of kindness
when many of them didn’t even speak the same language, was just beautiful. The wedding was an
intimate affair, only family and the closest of friends that flew in from all over the world
(Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, to
name a few). Our reception was held at at the Ebell Club in Long Beach, California. It was
honestly the first and only venue we checked out, and we knew it was perfect for our
occasion. Sean proposed to me while on a trip in Granada, Spain, and during that trip, we stayed in
a hotel in Cordoba, Spain that we fell in love with. Our wedding venue reminded us of that trip and so it was an immediate connection with us.
Our wedding was a fusion of Pakistani/Puerto Rican/American cultures, respecting our
traditions and upbringings, while giving it a touch of modern feels.
